FAQ schema generator
Add each question and its answer, and copy a ready <script type="application/ld+json"> block with FAQPage markup. Text is escaped so a < in an answer cannot break the page. Before you paste it, know what it will and will not do in 2026.
- Google stopped showing FAQ rich results for all sites on 7 May 2026. The markup is still valid and still describes the page for machines, but it no longer adds FAQ snippets to Google results.
- Every question and answer must also be visible on the page. Check the output with the JSON-LD validator.

</script>What FAQ markup does now
Google narrowed FAQ rich results to government and health sites in August 2023, then retired them for everyone on 7 May 2026 and removed the FAQPage documentation in June 2026. The markup is still valid schema.org, and Google says unused structured data causes no problems, but it no longer produces expandable questions under any result. If a rich result was your only reason to add it, skip it. If you want the questions available as structured data for other tools and assistants, it does no harm. Rules the markup must follow
- Every question and answer must be visible on the page, word for word or nearly so.
- Use FAQPage only for questions the site itself answers. User-submitted questions with several answers belong in QAPage.
- One FAQPage block per page. If your theme or SEO plugin already prints one, add questions there instead of pasting a second block.
- Keep advertising out of answers.
Common questions
Where do I paste the output in WordPress?
Into a Custom HTML block on the page, or your theme header for that page only. If your SEO plugin has an FAQ block, use that instead so there is one source of truth.
Can answers contain links?
Yes, but keep them to plain text here. Google allows a limited set of HTML tags in answers, and plain text is the safest choice.
Will this get my FAQs into AI answers?
Nothing guarantees that. Clear questions with direct answers on the page itself matter far more than the markup.
