WordPress plugin questions
Is the Hydrogen SEO plugin free?
Yes. The plugin is free and GPL-licensed on WordPress.org. Every non-AI feature, including sitemaps, schema, redirects, the 404 Monitor, IndexNow instant indexing, search engine verification, the robots.txt and llms.txt editors and the importer, works with no account at all.
What do I need an account for?
Only the AI features: AI titles and descriptions, AI content tools, AI alt text and the Hydrogen AI agent. A free account includes 500 AI credits and needs no credit card.
Can I switch from Yoast SEO or Rank Math without losing my work?
Yes. Tools → Import SEO Data detects Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework, Slim SEO, SureRank, and brings your settings, per-page SEO and redirects across. You see a full preview before anything is written, and you can undo it afterwards.
Does it slow down my site?
Hydrogen SEO adds no front-end JavaScript. All SEO output is server-rendered markup, and admin assets load only on Hydrogen SEO screens.
Does it work with Elementor and Divi?
Yes. Titles, meta, canonicals, social cards, schema, sitemaps and redirects are generated by WordPress around whatever your builder renders, so they work the same on any builder. On Divi, leave Divi’s own SEO fields empty so the page does not print two sets of tags.
What is the Pro plugin?
Hydrogen SEO Pro is an add-on to the free plugin. It is included with the Pro plan ($99 a year) and the Max plan ($179 a year), with automatic updates. You download it from your dashboard.
What are the requirements?
WordPress 6.7 or later, PHP 7.4 or later, and an administrator account. The plugin is currently in beta.
