Hydrogen SEO works fully with Divi, both the Divi theme and the Divi Builder plugin, without a bespoke Divi integration module. It does not need one: every piece of Hydrogen SEO's output, SEO titles, meta descriptions, canonicals, Open Graph and X cards, JSON-LD schema, sitemaps, robots directives, and redirects, is server-rendered markup that WordPress generates around whatever your builder renders in the page body. Divi builds the page; Hydrogen SEO builds the metadata. They operate in different layers and coexist cleanly.

We frame this honestly because it is the fact that matters: there is no Hydrogen SEO module inside the Divi Builder, and no such module is required for full SEO coverage of a Divi site.

One important setup step: leave Divi's own SEO fields empty

Divi ships its own basic SEO options (in Divi → Theme Options, under its SEO tab, with homepage, single-post, and index-page settings for custom titles and meta descriptions). If both Divi and Hydrogen SEO write titles and meta tags, your pages emit two sets of metadata, and search engines are left to guess which one you meant.

The rule for any site running two things that can print meta tags: pick one primary and silence the other. On a Hydrogen SEO site:

  1. Go to Divi → Theme Options and open Divi's SEO settings.
  2. Disable or leave empty Divi's custom title and meta description options for homepage, single posts, and index pages.
  3. Let Hydrogen SEO be the single source of truth for titles, descriptions, and social cards.

If you have already published with both active, or you migrated from another SEO plugin, check a few pages' source for doubled <title> or duplicate meta description tags, and see duplicate meta output for the full cleanup guide.

The workflow

  1. Design with the Divi Builder. Build and edit your layouts in Divi exactly as you do now, on the front end or in the wp-admin builder.
  2. Set SEO in the WordPress editor. Open the page or post in the standard WordPress editor and open the SEO Settings sheet (in the block editor or the Classic editor; ⌘E / Ctrl+E works in both): SEO title and meta description (with live SERP preview), Open Graph and X cards, per-post schema, robots, and canonical.
  3. Publish and verify. View source on the live page: Hydrogen SEO's meta tags and JSON-LD sit in the head, around the Divi-rendered body.

Everything server-rendered works the same on Divi as on any WordPress site:

  • Divi pages and posts are included in your XML sitemaps automatically.
  • Redirects fire before the page renders, builder or not.
  • Schema markup outputs as JSON-LD on Divi-built pages, with smart-tag support.
  • Site-wide tools, audits, the site health score, robots and llms.txt editors, treat Divi content like any other content.

Content habits that matter on Divi sites

Heading tags are per-module choices. Divi's Text and Heading modules let you choose the HTML tag behind each heading. Choose tags for document structure (one H1, then H2s and H3s in order) and use Divi's design settings for the visual size, rather than picking H1 because it looks big. Hydrogen SEO's on-page analysis will flag structural problems it can detect.

Alt text on module images. Images placed through Divi modules take alt text from the module settings or the Media Library. Fill it as you build, and use the bulk image alt text tools to clear historical gaps in the library.

FAQ

Is there a Hydrogen SEO module in the Divi Builder?

No, and we will not claim one. SEO for Divi pages is managed in the WordPress editor's Hydrogen SEO sheet. Because all output is server-rendered, the coverage is identical to any other WordPress page.

Do I have to turn off Divi's SEO options?

You should leave them empty or disabled, yes. Two systems printing titles and meta descriptions produce duplicate output, which muddies what search engines display. One primary source, Hydrogen SEO, keeps the signals clean; see duplicate meta output.

Will Hydrogen SEO conflict with the Divi Builder interface?

No. Hydrogen SEO's screens live in wp-admin and the WordPress editor, its assets lazy-load, and it adds zero JavaScript to your front end. The Divi Builder is untouched.

Does schema work on pages built entirely with Divi modules?

Yes. Schema is generated server-side from the settings you choose in the SEO Settings sheet or the Schema screen, and is output as JSON-LD in the page head regardless of how the body was built. Validate any page with validate rich results.
