hydrogenseo.com is the platform half of Hydrogen SEO: a signed-in web app that audits every page, ranks what's costing you traffic, and writes the fix. It pairs with the free WordPress plugin but also stands on its own; the audit and analysis tools work on any site you point them at. The positioning is deliberate: one engine for Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and whatever comes next.
A free account (sign up at /signup) includes free credits. Here's what's inside once you're signed in.
The dashboard
Your home screen after signing in. From the dashboard you reach the tools, your licenses, billing, and your usage. It's also where the results of your audits and monitoring come together.
The tools
| Tool | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Bulk audit | /seo/bulk-audit | Audits pages in bulk and surfaces issues across your site |
| Page compare | /seo/compare | Puts pages side by side to compare how they're set up |
| Schema generator | /seo/schema-generator | Builds valid JSON-LD structured data, standalone |
| SERP preview | /seo/serp-preview | Shows how a title and description render in Google results |
| Web vitals | /seo/web-vitals | Checks performance signals for a page |
| AEO analysis | /seo/aeo-analysis | Checks whether answer engines can fetch, read and quote a page |
| AI visibility (Pro, Max) | /seo/ai-visibility | Asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude your customers' questions and measures how often they name and cite you |
| AEO monitor (Pro, Max) | /seo/aeo-monitor | Re-runs those prompts twice a month or daily, with trends and alerts |
The bulk audit is usually the right starting point: run it, read the ranked findings, then work down the list. A full walkthrough of these tools, including when to prefer them over the plugin's built-in screens, lives in bulk audit and SEO tools.
AI-visibility monitoring
Classic rank tracking answers "where do I rank on Google?" The platform also measures your AI visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok: how often their answers name you and cite your pages, next to your competitors. Save a prompt set as a monitor and it re-runs on a schedule, with alerts when the answers change. AI visibility and monitors come with the Pro and Max plans; free accounts see an example. As search spreads across answer engines, this is the measurement layer for answer engine optimization; without it, AEO is guesswork.
The agent lives here too
The platform runs a LangGraph-based agent, and it's the same Hydrogen AI your WordPress plugin connects to. When you chat with the agent in the plugin dashboard or the editor's SEO Settings sheet, the reasoning happens on the platform while the changes flow through the plugin's registered tools on your site, gated and policy-controlled as described in AI Abilities, policies and safety. Setup is covered in connect Hydrogen AI.
One account, one credit pool
Plugin and platform share a single account and a single pool of credits:
- Sign up once at /signup; free credits are included.
- Connect the plugin to that account (how to connect); the plugin's AI features draw on the same credits as the platform's tools.
- API access is keyed by license keys. The platform exposes a credit-based REST API; you create license keys on the Licenses screen at /licenses and connect one in the plugin under Hydrogen SEO → API Key. Credit usage is metered per key. Details: API keys and licenses.
- When credits run out, only AI generation pauses. Every non-AI plugin feature keeps working. Plans are at /pricing; the full model is in credits, plans and billing.
There is no separate "plugin account" and "platform account" to reconcile, and no double billing.
How the pieces fit
A useful mental model:
- The plugin is where SEO is implemented: titles, meta, schema, sitemaps, robots, redirects, all server-rendered on your WordPress site, free and functional without any account.
- The platform is where SEO is measured and reasoned about: bulk audits, comparisons, vitals, AEO analysis, AI-visibility monitoring, plus the agent's brain.
- The account and credits are the connective tissue: one identity, one meter, whichever surface you're using.
"One engine for Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and whatever comes next" is meant literally: the same audits, the same structured output, and the same monitoring serve classic search and answer engines alike, so you're not rebuilding your SEO stack every time a new engine appears.
Getting started
- Create your free account at /signup.
- Run a bulk audit at /seo/bulk-audit on your site and read the ranked findings.
- If you run WordPress, install the plugin and connect your account, then connect Hydrogen AI to start fixing findings conversationally.
- Run an AEO analysis on your key pages and an AI visibility check on your customers' questions to see where you stand beyond Google.
FAQ
Do I need the WordPress plugin to use the platform?
No. The platform's tools, including bulk audit, page compare, schema generator, SERP preview, web vitals, AEO analysis and AI visibility, work in their own right. The plugin adds implementation on WordPress sites and the agent connection.
Is the platform free?
Signing up is free and includes free credits. Credit-consuming work (AI generation, agent work) draws on those; paid plans at /pricing cover heavier use. Running out of credits only pauses AI generation.
What does "AI-visibility monitoring" actually cover?
How often ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Grok name you and cite your site when asked your prompts, compared with your competitors and tracked over time. The answers come from each engine's API with live web search, so they can differ from what one person sees in the consumer apps. Google's AI Overviews have no public API and are not tracked directly. See answer engine optimization for the details.
Where do I manage my account and billing?
From the signed-in app: licenses at /licenses, billing from your account screens, plans at /pricing. See manage your account.
