Hydrogen SEO works fully with Elementor sites, and it does so without a bespoke Elementor module, because it does not need one. Everything Hydrogen SEO outputs, titles, meta descriptions, canonical tags, Open Graph and X cards, JSON-LD schema, sitemaps, robots directives, redirects, is server-rendered markup generated by WordPress itself. Elementor controls what is inside your page's body; Hydrogen SEO controls the metadata around it. The two never collide.

We say this plainly because it matters for trust: there is no "Hydrogen SEO widget" inside the Elementor editor, and this guide will not pretend otherwise. What you get instead is a clean division of labour and a workflow that takes about a minute per page.

Why builder-agnostic output is enough

An SEO plugin's front-end job happens in the document head and the rendered HTML: <title>, meta tags, canonical, social cards, and schema. WordPress assembles that server-side on every request, regardless of whether the body was built with blocks, Elementor, or hand-written HTML. Hydrogen SEO hooks into that server-side rendering, ships zero front-end JavaScript, and therefore works identically under any builder.

Concretely, on an Elementor site, all of the following work exactly as they do anywhere else:

The workflow

  1. Design in Elementor. Build and edit the page with the Elementor editor as you normally would. Nothing about your design process changes.
  2. Set SEO in the WordPress editor. Open the same page in the WordPress editor (Pages → Edit, rather than Edit with Elementor) and open the SEO Settings sheet (toolbar button, ⋮ menu, or ⌘E / Ctrl+E): SEO title, meta description, social cards, schema, robots, canonical. The live SERP and share-card previews work exactly as on any other page.
  3. Publish and verify. View the page's source and you will see Hydrogen SEO's meta tags and JSON-LD in the head, wrapping the Elementor-rendered body.

For small edits, Quick Edit on the Pages screen holds the SEO title, description, focus keyword and indexing, so you can change them without opening the page at all (SEO on the Posts screen). For bulk work across many Elementor pages, missing descriptions, duplicate titles, the site audit and the Hydrogen AI agent treat Elementor pages like any other content.

What to watch for on Elementor sites

The builder-agnostic model means Hydrogen SEO cannot see inside your design decisions, so two content-level habits matter:

Heading structure comes from your widgets. Every Elementor Heading widget has an "HTML Tag" setting (H1 through H6, or a non-heading tag). It is easy to build a visually perfect page whose heading hierarchy is chaos: three H1s, or H4s used purely for their font size. Search engines read the tags, not the design. Keep one H1 per page and use heading levels for structure, styling them separately. Hydrogen SEO's on-page analysis content-structure checks will flag the symptoms.

Image alt text lives on each widget. Images placed through Elementor widgets take their alt text from the Media Library attachment or the widget's own settings. Fill alt text when you place images, and use Hydrogen SEO's bulk image alt text tools to clear the media library backlog; widgets pulling from the library inherit the fix.

One more general note: if you also run another SEO plugin (or a theme feature) that prints its own meta tags, you will get duplicate output regardless of builder. Keep one primary SEO plugin; see duplicate meta output.

FAQ

Is there a Hydrogen SEO panel inside the Elementor editor?

No. SEO settings are managed in the WordPress editor's Hydrogen SEO sheet. Because the output is server-rendered, nothing is lost by this: the settings apply to the page identically. We would rather be straightforward about this than claim an integration that does not exist.

Will my Elementor pages appear in the XML sitemap?

Yes. Elementor pages are ordinary WordPress posts and pages under the hood, so sitemaps, redirects, robots settings, and schema all apply to them automatically.

Does Hydrogen SEO slow down Elementor pages?

No. Hydrogen SEO adds zero JavaScript to your front end; its output is static markup in the rendered HTML. Page weight on an Elementor site is determined by your design and Elementor's own assets.

Can Hydrogen AI edit my Elementor designs?

The agent works through the plugin's SEO abilities: metadata, schema, redirects, and similar. It does not edit Elementor layouts. It can, for example, write meta descriptions for every Elementor-built page missing one; see agent recipes.
